Here is a ferry boat run by the province of Manitoba and still in use. The boat master is the first woman to have the job of ferry master on what is likely to be the last ferry in Manitoba. She lives in the house adjacent to the ferry crossing. This photograph is our return journey with two young boys crossing and the ferry master's house in the background. The ferry is used by locals to cross the road through Stockton to the other side of the river. When we arrived one young boy was being ferried across to the Stockton side of the river. We were waiting to cross to the opposite side. Our two vehicles, a van and a car, just fit and the trip took around 5-10 minutes. We chatted with the ferry master about the weather, freak storms that had happened that year, sunsets and the currents in the river. Fields of wheat and sunflowers awaited us on the other side in our journey to the Criddle Vein Family Farmstead.
